Scary.

Apocalypse, Kaliyug - the end of the world holds endless fascination for us puny humans. Is this a little hint of what it looks like? A small portent of forces stronger than our tenuous mastery of the world around us. Also see this. Even the 'Wot me worry' guy cuts short his vacation. Time to worry?
See this (IE only, no firefox) for more videos.
New Orleans, the river, the bridge - so beautiful and Girls Gone Wild apart, so unamerican a city. The wrought iron grilles and wooden plank doors of the French Quarter, mysterious, vampire-ridden and sleepy - it reminded me so much of uttor Kolkata. CNN is reporting unknown numbers of casualties, and along with it so much history - gone.

very very sad, and gut wrenching to watch this on television for hours. but urmi, given the sheer diversity of american urban form, and the unique character of most of its cities, there is no unamerican out there, right.

I have to disagree Swati, New Orleans does not feel American at all - its messy, laidback, old yet alive in a way that really sets it apart from any other American city that I have been to at least. The food, the architecture, the churches, the delta - its just so unique. Maybe the music though - its the jazz that ties it to the rest of the country, hmm.
