Why?
Why on earth would my local Trader Joe's not have any of the following:
1. Green Chillies - even any form of hot peppers? I thought yuppies liked spicy, huh?
2. Cilantro - just a sign saying "We are sold out", ouch.
3. Cauliflowers????
And where can I find cheap flowers like from Farmers' Markets in LA? Just some nice bright daisies would do :(

Well this is the point where I should have gloated over the innate superiority of LA TJs....but frankly, I've never seen any of the items you've mentioned in any of the TJs I've been to. Is this exclusive to the one on Pico?
Cauliflower is an especial sore point. Have you noticed how bloody expensive it is in regular grocery stores?
Aaah the joys of $3 flower bunches! Surely some farmer's market in the vicinity would have them?
The green chillies are a perennial crib I suppose - thats why I tend to freeze them in large quantities when I do find them at a Thai grocery store or something. Maybe I should go to Tuktuk Thai market in Berkeley or maybe Berkeley Bowl grocery which is supposed to be rather good!
Cauliflowers :(
Hmm, the thing is I had this incredibly convenient farmers' market right outside my office in LA. Now I'd actually have to schlep somewhere to go to one...
Because J.Bhagwati ate all the Cilantro.... angry that I beat him to the Nobel Prize.
As for funerals, they keep on happening....but your blog is as usual very very special.
Sigh, this Amartya Sen guy is entertaining - but do I want to turn off anonymous comments??
