I attribute French food snobbery to the francophile Brits and Americans who make up for a lack of a local sophisticated cuisine by adopting the French and then becoming vicious proselytizers.
I'm yet to meet a French man or woman who is not slightly embarassed when someone gushes about the food to him/her.
But guess what, I came out as Mexican food. Huh???
Mexican food - bet its something along the lines of 'hot & spicy & exotic' - eh? :) French just comes across as snooty and underfed. $&#@
