Run run run

I am off to Sin City this weekend, albeit with Ma, which would tend to repress any partying instincts I may have. But I don't. Or at least I wouldn't report it if I did. So...

The weather Gods had better not think that I am going to praise the sunny skies and the desultory, with-their-hearts-not-in-it kind of rain and all around happier weather, just so They could zap me with a flash flood or two and go "Muahahaha" behind my back. Nope. I have fingers crossed and my mind quite quite off of the weather. Now that I think of it its a bit like watching the Indian cricket team actually!

In other news one has been to a fabulous little Moroccan hole in the wall caled Tajine in the city and one is bowled over by the fact that it is flavorful yet mild yet oh so good. Mmmmm lamb. Oh and I am so getting the beet salad next time.

i kept on wondering where mamima had gone from your post, maybe to the middle east to see generation-next, i thought.
did you play roulette, or is baccarat your game? or is it the one armed bandits?
did you notice from where they keep on bleeding in oxygen?
did you see the mobsters and their monas?
i am almost undone with curiosity

Kemon katlo Sin City te? S and I were supposed to go with a bunch of friends, but that didn't materialise. But we should go soon, before the drive becomes impossible because of the heat. Report back on the state of the buffets, for me Vegas is all about the food :)

Hullo hullo everybody - first about Vegas.
- Hmm I did not hit any of the buffets, sadly.
- I lost a teeny weeny amount of money (pennies really) at the slots.
- I ate at Lotus of Siam which lived upto all the hype and the mango with sticky rice made my mum wonder out loud that the mango was actually decent. [Digression: I keep avoiding the mango section of the grocery stores and tell ma that they suck here and she believed me]
Now to answer all your questions!
Bulididi! I did not notice any oxygen being pumped in, but there were a few of those Oxygen bars where you go stick two pipes up your nose and get a head massage along with it. Or something like that. very weird.
As for mobsters, the place was teeming with overweight midwestern women in capris (ugh) and their pasty faced hubbies and squealing brats. Oh also expressionless OC women nipped and tucked to an inch of their lives. Not to forget the tanned, big-haired blondes. Sigh - do I sound like a misanthrope?

Hey Bojju, good to see you back.

Vish!! we did have a blast - even more so in the dinky little plane that flew us to grand canyon from Vegas. [shivers]

Swati, oh god I remember driving there Memorial Day weekend last year [even more shudders]. In one word, don't! Kintu buffet te khelum koi :(
By the way nice post about ghotkali - I wonder if Jewish moms have anything on the bangali mashima brigade!

oh yes, them jewish moms are all ghotkali.
a russian jew will not get hitched to a georgian jew, let alone an armenian one.
an ashkenazi thinks that he is at the top of the pile.
israel had a hidden policy not to let in too many ethopian jews.
indians and jews get along fabulously -- we believe in clannish families and castes and mothers and mothers-in-law.
(a son may love his wife but he is supposed to ADORE his mother. a wife aknowledges this and dreams of becoming a mother-in-law)
