Apocalypse, Kaliyug - the end of the world holds endless fascination for us puny humans. Is this a little hint of what it looks like? A small portent of forces stronger than our tenuous mastery of the world around us. Also see this. Even the 'Wot me worry' guy cuts short his vacation. Time to worry?
See this (IE only, no firefox) for more videos.
New Orleans, the river, the bridge - so beautiful and Girls Gone Wild apart, so unamerican a city. The wrought iron grilles and wooden plank doors of the French Quarter, mysterious, vampire-ridden and sleepy - it reminded me so much of uttor Kolkata. CNN is reporting unknown numbers of casualties, and along with it so much history - gone.

More on the awesome FSM

I realise that a lot of you are unconvinced about the amazing Flying Spaghetti Monster creation story that is spreading the world but look at these and tell me you will not eventually be converted. Muahahah...

Not sure why but

this blog received one of its higher hit-counts today! Quite quite strange considering that I have not posted anything new in a day.
In other news, I got a haircut (after about 4 months) and got brand new highlights. Woo hoo! No snarky remarks please!

More silly tests (Its all Vish' fault!!)

You are sexy, powerful, and bold.
You're full of passion and energy...
Sometimes this passion has a dark side.

You feel most alive when you're seducing someone.
You never fail to get someone's attention.
Quick minded, you're also quick to lose your temper!

You Are 20% Weird

Not enough to scare other people...
But sometimes you scare yourself.

Well, two more mismatched test results I am yet to see!

Why on earth would my local Trader Joe's not have any of the following:
1. Green Chillies - even any form of hot peppers? I thought yuppies liked spicy, huh?
2. Cilantro - just a sign saying "We are sold out", ouch.
3. Cauliflowers????
And where can I find cheap flowers like from Farmers' Markets in LA? Just some nice bright daisies would do :(

Another one of those darn tests...

Your Inner European is French!

Smart and sophisticated.
You have the best of everything - at least, *you* think so.

Why Marco Polo is the original Prophet...

I don't know if I have any frequent readers, but if there are any I am sure you would like to know about my religious affiliations. Even if you don't - I must tell you anyway that I have converted and Atkins be damned...
In a very heartfelt way, I truly believe now that this earth and the universe was created by a Giant Flying Spaghetti Monster, henceforth GFSM, SBUH ["Sauce be upon Him" duh]. You may also call me a Pastafarian.
I have been so moved by an eloquent expression of the new and only true religion's aims and objectives here that I quote,
* Flimsy moral standards.
* Every friday is a relgious holiday. If your work/school objects to that, demand your religious beliefs are respected and threaten to call the ACLU.
* Our heaven is WAY better. We've got a Stripper Factory AND a Beer Volcano.
May the Pho be with all of you, Ramen!

When Urmi listens to her true self!

I really really want to do this. I probably won't but that is another issue...

Quick, fast, wicked!

I can't help it. Thats how life seems to have moved over the last couple of weeks. Work is fine, good even. More importantly it seems to be much easier finding my feet here than it ever was in LA. I even had that very American of outings with a bunch of people from work. We went to watch a baseball game. Well we also apparently went to queue up for 'dollar dogs' which are just smallish hot dogs sold for a dollar each, and beer. The game was not in anyone's focus except for the last three innings when the home team of Oakland A's managed to hit a couple and win. All in all good fun!
I have been unpacking slowly and surely and have had friends visiting. We went to eat chaat and chicken kathi kababs at the Berkeley institution called Vik's. Ooh yummy, except that the stupid place closes at 6 PM everyday. There is apparently no justice in this world.
What else? I saw that crummy summer blockbuster called The Island. Oh boring. Hacking up interesting premises comes so easy to Hollywood!
The best thing is of course the amazing view of the bay and Marin county from my apartment. I could spend all my time just taking in the view, sparkling gray water dotted with a few white sails in the distance and crazy parasailors (or are they windsurfers?) with multi-hued canopies trailing out behind them. On a clear day I can see Richmond bridge in the distance and the tiny cars zipping by on the freeway are a white noise far away.
Did I mention that I am enjoying the bay area? Good.

Back. Sort of.

Moved. Kitchen / home theatre / some clothes unpacked. Otherwise taped up boxes dot the landscape of my apartment like detritus from a shipwreck. I love mixing metaphors so don't bother trying to make too much sense of the previous sentence.
In other news apparently a classmate from grad school named his cat after me. Sigh.
